Hello. My name is Nancy Walker and welcome to my portfolio website.
Growing up I was always the kid who could draw better than all the other kids (at least until I got to 6th grade—but that is another story). I graduated from the University of Delaware (go Fighting Blue Hens) with a degree in Visual Communications, a secondary emphasis in Business Administration (because I was never going to meet men in the art department—and some knowledge of accounting and marketing can always come in handy), and a minor in History (because I happen to like history).
Since the early 1990s, I have been working as a freelance graphic designer. Based in the Philadelphia suburbs, I am committed to delivering effective, smart graphic design solutions to my clients. I work with small design firms, big agencies, corporations, trade organizations, and pretty much everything in between. I can handle projects from initial layout (or pick up an already established style and carry it through) to final file prep and hand off of completed documents. I work on all sizes of projects, but I find that I really shine on assignments that need to be cared for with attention to detail (and continuity) and an ability to digest and organize large amounts of information.
When I am not busy keeping my clients happy, I enjoy scuba diving (warm water, tropical fish, rum drinks), gardening and trying (very unsuccessfully) to grow tomatoes, cooking new and increasingly exotic recipes, reading (mostly mysteries and historical novels, but will try pretty much anything with well-written characters and a decent plot), and, of course, making sure my cats get fed (mostly) on time.
